One-on-one support is a service that PALS provides. Our goal is to help children further develop the life skills they need to live as independently as possible. The PALS team evaluates each child individually and works along with the family to create a personalized program. The program’s focus can encompass the following: life skills, social skills, academic support, behavior support, one-on-one shadowing at school, etc. In addition the PALS team accommodates children with diagnoses across the spectrum of autism. Other services available through PALS are the social skills groups, which are organized to give clients the opportunity to use their social skills training in real life settings. Through interactive games and activities (with some directed teaching) clients are encouraged to engage in conversation together and build friendships. These groups are available for ranging ages and abilities. The PALS team uses a structured play setting, which carefully promotes independence and the least amount of adult support. In addition these days are viewed as a day for the children to look forward to, feel accepted, and have fun with familiar friends while strengthening their social skills.
